This week’s Good Read is a Best Read: it’s one of the best articles in recent months about “Why vibe strategy is more dangerous than vibe coding“!
You probably heard of vibe coding, but not of vibe strategy, but it’s has a much far-reaching negative impact:
“Vibe coding has a thousand critics. Vibe strategy has almost none, yet it is quietly running AI transformations, contract negotiations and forward-deployed teams.”
Because AI can test vibe code, but not evaluate a vibe strategy:
“There is no compiler for a diagnosis, no unit test for a negotiation position, no staging environment for an operating model. Failure arrives late and disguised.”
As a result, many companies use AI to move faster in the wrong direction:
“Production has become cheap. Evaluation is now the scarce factor, and the trades differ only in whether they have professionalised it. Software has: the evaluator is partly automated and culturally enforced. Strategy has not: the evaluator is a person, or nobody.”
Judgment is what AI lacks and what humans bear on their backs:
“Every artefact an AI can generate, from the deck to the roadmap to the KPI tree, can imitate their vocabulary. None can supply the judgment that tests them. That is the job of a person.”
“The Evaluation Gap” is a long article by Stefan Wendin, but that’s exactly why it’s worth reading:
